One of the most impactful initiatives by NAVHDA Alberta Chapters is the mentor hunts. These events, organized by Pheasants Forever Calgary with the support of the NAVHDA chapters, provide new upland hunters with hands-on experience and guidance from seasoned mentors. The dogs trained by Wildrose NAVHDA, Prairie Vista, and Northpoint Alberta play an integral role in these hunts, showcasing their skills and assisting novice upland hunters in the field.
Mentor hunts offer an incredible opportunity for personal growth and learning for first-time upland hunters. Participants gain hands-on experience in dog handling, bird identification, and safe hunting practices. The presence of experienced mentors ensures that newcomers receive personalized instruction, fostering their confidence and competence in their hunting abilities. Join us in these mentor hunts and feel inspired by the knowledge and skills you’ll acquire.
These mentor hunts also foster a sense of community and camaraderie among participants. The shared experiences and mutual support create lasting bonds, encouraging first-time upland hunters to continue their journey in the sport. The mentor hunts organized by Pheasants Forever Calgary, with the support of Alberta’s NAVHDA chapters, are a testament to their commitment to preserving hunting traditions and promoting responsible, ethical hunting practices.
