The 19th Annual Auspice Capital Director’s Invitational was held on Thursday, September 8th at the AHEIA Calgary Firearms Centre at DeWinton. Long known for being a gorgeous day weather wise – the trend had appeared to be over as the forecast was predicted to be cool windy and rainy. But alas, the weather person got it wrong. Although a little cooler than the heat wave that we dealt with most of the summer – it didn’t rain or blow and the respite from the sun seemed to be welcomed by all.
The Calcutta was a big hit as usual and as usual, the regular winners, well – won again. The Golden Prairie Team sold for a song and came in 7th place – which is a money winner. You would think the Mannas team would have bought themselves as they should know better as they won last year by buying themselves, and they have actual accountants on their team?!
After the Calcutta the shoot began. The competition is one round of Trap, one round of Trap Doubles and one round of Skeet. The winning team was the Surly Old Guys (SOG)! Congratulations to Bob Merkley, Bob Logan, Dave Scott, Scott Price and Nick Stanford for the three-peat!
Another great meal and great event thanks to the folks from Great Events. What would a Pheasants Forever event be without a little auction?
Thanks to Bill Brown of Elevate Auction, Burak Cankodaz, Carson & Kade McCormick, MacKenzie Lackten, Terri and Laurette for their tremendous support.
It was another first class, high energy, warm & friendly event. The highlight of the night was Bob Merkley winning the Franchi .410 Over and Under Shotgun and promptly gifted it to Pheasants Forever Patron, Ruben Garcia, who on that day became a Canadian Citizen. Class act Bob and congratulations to Ruben!
A special thanks to Auspice Capital for their sponsorship, allowing us to crank it all up a bit.
