It’s a mixed bag out there in southern Alberta for upland bird populations. The drought and June heat dome had a certain negative effect on habitat conditions and local hail storms had a negative effect on production.
Beginning in 2020 the Alberta Conservation Association (ACA) altered its survey methods by reaching out to the hunting dog community and asking for their assistance with gathering data through the Upland Gamebird Survey advertised in our last issue of this newsletter.
